About Darenth, Dartford

Darenth is a village in the borough of Dartford, Kent. It is situated on the River Darent, approximately 20 miles southeast of London. The village is near the M25 motorway and has good transport links to London and other parts of Kent.
Darenth is a small village in the borough of Dartford, Kent. It lies on the edge of the North Downs and is surrounded by some of the UK's most beautiful countryside.
The village dates back to at least the 12th century, as mentioned in a deed written by King John. Darenth has been an important crossroads for trade and communication throughout its history between London and the southeast of England.
Darenth provides plenty of scenic walks along riverside paths or across open fields crisscrossed with footpaths connecting it to neighbouring villages. The North Downs Way National Trail is close by and has some of the most beautiful views in this lovely part of Kent.
Darenth is also home to some interesting historical features, including the Grade II listed Church of St Margaret, which dates back to the 13th century. Darenth Valley Woods is a site of particular scientific interest not far from here due to its wide variety of plant and animal life. This woodland covers hundreds of hectares and provides a beautiful habitat for wildlife.
Shorne Woods Country Park is a few miles from Darenth—an idyllic stretch of woodland perfect for leisurely strolls and picnics. The bluebells are particularly stunning here during springtime!
Darenth was once a major center for paper production. From the 18th century until the early 20th century, paper was made at the Darenth Paper Mills, which were on the River Darent. The mills were a major employer in the area and played an important role in the local economy.
